The three-part stigma and ovary of the lily family are apparent in the photo. The fairy lantern is a common woodland and shrubland plant north of the Bay Area up to Humboldt County. Calochortus is Greek meaning beautiful grass; amabilis is Latin for lovely. Beetles and bees pollinate this flower.
