The Buttercup Family, to which these flowers belong, have centripetalate stamens, that is, the sequence of stamen ripening is from the outside to the inside. The stamens on this flower that are ripe have split open exposing their pollen and are visible below the two petals. Since this sequential maturation makes the flower attractive to pollinators for a longer time, fertilization is more likely.
