California Figwort
Scrophularia californica
2001

The prominent cream-colored lower lip of this corolla is a perfect landing place for flying insects. The two yellow and cream anthers are sturdy and are often grasped by bees as they maneuver in the flower to sip the nectar. During all this activity, the stigma (projecting from between the anthers) is likely to be pollinated.
